The opening event on Uganda’s national motorsport calendar. Supported by the International University of East Africa, this result marks not only an important win, but also a strong foundation for a serious championship challenge this season.
Starting the year with maximum points brings early momentum, but rally success is never accidental. It is built on preparation, teamwork, and the reliability of a well-engineered machine. In Mbale, all these elements aligned perfectly for the Alwi crew.

Inside the cockpit, the partnership between Hassan Alwi and experienced co-driver Musa Nsubuga continues to demonstrate the importance of trust and communication in rally sport. Musa’s precision in delivering pace notes allows the driver to maintain rhythm and confidence across changing surfaces and demanding stages. Their coordination transforms complex stage conditions into calculated performance, ensuring consistency from start to finish.

Equally important in this victory is the performance of the Ford Proto rally car a machine designed to convert engineering capability into competitive advantage. The Proto concept allows teams to integrate high-performance components built specifically for rally conditions, offering improved durability, balance, and responsiveness across rough terrain. Its stability and mechanical strength contribute significantly to maintaining speed without compromising reliability.
Throughout the Mbale stages, the Ford Proto proved to be a dependable partner, delivering the traction, control, and endurance required to sustain a winning pace. Rallying places intense stress on suspension systems and engine performance, making technical preparation just as important as driving skill. In this case, the machine played its role effectively, complementing the driver’s precision and the co-driver’s experience.

Backing from the International University of East Africa highlights the growing relationship between knowledge, innovation, and sport performance. Motorsport today reflects a combination of physical skill and technical understanding, where research and engineering contribute directly to results on the leaderboard.
Winning the opening round does not guarantee a championship, but it sets the tone. It builds confidence within the team and creates a psychological advantage heading into the next events on the calendar. Consistency across rallies remains the key factor in securing a national title, and an early lead strengthens the possibility of maintaining control of the championship battle.
With a trusted co-driver, a competitive Ford Proto, and strong institutional support, Hassan Alwi’s start to NRC 2026 presents a promising outlook.

The Mbale victory is more than an early success, it is a reminder that championships are shaped by preparation, teamwork, and machines capable of delivering performance when it matters most.
As the season continues, the combination of driver skill, co-driver experience, and technical reliability could play a decisive role in shaping the 2026 championship story.
