The thrill of speed was already in the air even before the official announcement. Motorsport world had eagerly been waiting for confirmation of support for the 2026 rally season and KCB Bank Uganda delivered in a big way.

At the bank’s headquarters along Lugogo By-pass motorsport fraternities and bank executives gathered for the unveiling ceremony. The highlight of the day was the announcement of a UGX 560 million sponsorship towards the 2026 National Rally Championship (NRC), covering all eight FMU calendar events, as well as support to the KCB Bank Rally Team drivers, who received UGX 380 million to boost their 2026 campaign.

Performance expectations are high as the KCB-backed drivers prepare to compete in powerful, championship proven rally machines:

  1. Oscar Ntambi – ARC2 Champion 2026 – Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X
  2. Mike Mukula Jr – Subaru Impreza N14
  3. Nasser Mutebi – Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX

With the team’s iconic green colours set to shine, fans can expect strong performances as the drivers aim to dominate the season.

During the ceremony, Managing Director Edgar Byamah officially handed over a cheque to Jimmy Akena, President of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda.

Byamah emphasized that motorsport reflects the bank’s core values:

“Motorsport speaks volumes about KCB’s values. It represents technical excellence, speed, discipline, teamwork, and skill. Our partnership goes beyond sponsorship, it is about developing motorsport in Uganda and promoting the country’s sporting culture.”

The 2026 National Rally Championship season is set to begin on March 27–28 with the highly anticipated KCB Mbale Rally, marking the return of rally action to Mbale after an eight-year absence.

Several top drivers have already confirmed participation, including: Ambrose Byona Omunyeto, Musa Ssegaabwe, Yasin Nasser, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Mansoor Lubega, Walter Kibande among others

The challenging Elgon stages are expected to test both driver skill and machine durability, promising an exciting start to the season.

With significant backing from KCB Bank Uganda, the 2026 NRC season is set to deliver competitive rally action across the country. The investment not only strengthens the championship structure but also empowers drivers to perform at their best, ensuring fans experience another unforgettable year of Ugandan motorsport.
