A weekend of elite veteran basketball at the Nyayo National Stadium saw TwenZe dominate the inaugural Legends Cup, highlighting the enduring legacy of East African basketball.

The echoes of East African basketball greatness returned to the Nyayo National Stadium Indoor Arena this past weekend as the inaugural Legends Cup came to a thrilling conclusion.
Over two days of elite FIBA-endorsed 3×3 basketball, some of the region’s most respected veteran players reminded fans that class, composure and basketball IQ never fade.
By the end of the tournament, TwenZe stood alone at the top, defeating Knights Legends 22–12 in the final to claim the 2026 Legends Cup title.
The Road to the Final
The tournament tipped off on 1 May with a competitive round of pool-stage fixtures.
TwenZe immediately established themselves as the team to beat, opening their campaign with a commanding 22–12 victory over Knights Legends. They followed it with a hard-fought 13–9 win against the Wildcats and a dominant 21–13 performance over Wakuu to finish the opening day unbeaten.
Knights Legends recovered strongly after their opening defeat, securing key victories against the Wildcats, Wakuu and Bunge Basketball to book their place in the knockout stages.
Championship Saturday
The intensity rose on 2 May as the tournament entered the semi-finals.
TwenZe continued their impressive run with a 21–12 victory over the Wildcats, while Knights Legends defeated Wakuu 20–14 to secure their place in the final.
In the third-place play-off, the Wildcuts claimed Bronze after a spirited 19–14 win over Wakuu.
The Final Showdown
The championship game brought together the tournament’s two standout teams, but TwenZe once again proved unstoppable.
With disciplined execution and efficient scoring, they reached the 22-point limit to defeat Knights Legends 22–12 and become the first-ever Legends Cup champions.
Leading the charge was Griffin Ligare Wisyuba, whose performances throughout the tournament earned him the MVP award. Ligare, currently ranked among Kenya’s top FIBA 3×3 players, brought quality and leadership to TwenZe’s title-winning campaign.
