With the culmination of the first leg of the Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) 2023-2024 season over the weekend, three fixtures that were rescheduled took place over the weekend.
Currently enjoying good form, the women in uniform Kenya Police Bullets Fc secured a vital win against Nakuru City Quens that saw them close the gap on top of the table, promising a duel title race in the second leg against defending champions Vihiga Queens FC, who are currently unbeaten after 10 matches with 24 points on top of the table.
The win for Kenya Police Bullets FC moved them closer to the top with 22 points, resting their hopes for a promising competitive second leg as they seek their first-ever KWPL title.
In the other matches, Gatundu-based Gaspo Women Fc were shocked with a one-nil defeat against newbies Soccer Assasins at Mumboha grounds, while Ulinzi Starlets picked maximum points at Sudi Stadium against relegation-bound Bungoma Queens Fc with a 3-1 win.
With the already relegated TransNzoia Falcons, the results mean that Gaspo Women now sits bottom of the table with a paltry 5 points, followed closely by Bunyore Starlets who are also under threat with 9 points, same as Bungoma Queens and Zetech University Sparks.
